Wills & Trusts

Here are the ways I could help you with your will, trust, and other estate planning needs:

  • I will consult with you to help you decide which estate planning documents would serve you best. These may include some combination of a Last Will, a Trust, a Power of Attorney for Financial Matters, a Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions (includes a health care proxy), a Living Will, and/or a HIPAA* (Medical Records) Release.

Standard Packages

Simple Will Package ($500.00 per person)

This package includes a Last Will, a Power of Attorney for Financial Matters, a Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions (includes a health care proxy), a Living Will, and a HIPAA* Release.

This package is designed generally for people whose assets add up to less than $1 million.

Simple Will Plus a Children's Trust ($750.00 per person)

This package includes a Last Will, a Power of Attorney for Financial Matters, a Power of Attorney for Health Care Decisions (includes a health care proxy), a Living Will, and a HIPAA* Release.

This package is designed for people whose assets add up to less than $1 million and who have small children who want their Last Will to establish a trust to manage the family assets in the event that both parents pass away before the children are grown.

Trusts ($1,500.00 per person)

I believe that trusts are very useful to accomplish specific goals. They can be used to reduce or eliminate Massachusetts or U.S. estate taxes, manage the complexities of blended family estate planning, make gifts to children and grandchildren, avoid or simplify probate, provide for supplemental needs for people receiving government assistance, or some combination of these goals.

People who use trusts as part of their estate plan will still need a modified Will Package in which their Last Will is written so that all assets not owned by the trust "pour over" into their trust at death.

My fixed fee for trust drafting assumes that your situation is reasonably "standard". If your situation is not standard, I will let you know and then charge my normal hourly fee for this work.

"HIPAA" refers to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 which establishes rules limiting access to medical records.
